Burrows Racing - Donington Park Moto4 Cup Report

Burrows Engineering / RK Racing headed to Donington Park for Round 2 of the British Moto4 Cup Championship with rider Jack Burrows looking to continue his strong start to the 2026 season.

The weekend began on Friday evening with a single free practice session, where Jack finished in 6th position. The session was used to experiment with a few changes to both the bike and Jack’s riding setup, leaving him not entirely comfortable but giving the team valuable information heading into Saturday.

Saturday morning’s FP2 showed immediate progress, with Jack much happier on the bike and able to push forward to an impressive 3rd place finish. Confidence continued to build into qualifying later that afternoon, where Jack secured 4th on the grid in an incredibly competitive and fast-paced session, earning himself a second-row start for Race 1.

Just before Saturday evening’s race, the heavens opened and heavy rain forced the race distance to be reduced from 14 laps to 12. Jack made a fantastic start and quickly settled into a strong and controlled 2nd position. Building a consistent rhythm and looking comfortable in the wet conditions, Jack maintained P2 before a late safety car intervention closed the field back up.

When the safety car pulled in, Jack managed the restart perfectly and brought the bike home in 2nd place, securing his fourth podium finish of the season and reclaiming the championship lead.

Sunday morning saw Jack line up 2nd on the grid for Race 2 over 14 laps. In what proved to be a British Talent Cup-style thriller, the leading group of four riders broke away from the rest of the field, consistently lapping in the 1:38 bracket around the demanding Donington Park circuit.

Jack positioned himself strongly throughout the race and looked ready to challenge for victory heading into the closing stages. Unfortunately, approaching the Melbourne Hairpin just before the final lap, Jack made contact with the back of Mason Foster. Thankfully, Jack stayed upright, but the incident cost valuable time and ended his chances of fighting for the win.

Despite the setback, Jack recovered to bring the bike home in 4th place, adding more important championship points to the tally. Following Round 2, Jack now sits 2nd in the championship standings, just 9 points from the lead.

Jack’s next outing in the British Moto4 Cup Championship comes at Snetterton on the 3rd–5th July.

For Burrows Engineering / RK Racing, attention now turns to the Isle of Man TT, where Ian Hutchinson will campaign the team’s Ducati V2 in both Monster Energy Supersport races.
